Ram Kamal is a social engineer, mass communication professional, film maker, former international journalist, and photographer who has worked with numerous publications and news agencies worldwide. Recognized as a sports and events branding specialist, he has consulted for major organizations including FIFA, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the Commonwealth Games, and the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF). He transitioned away from traditional journalism in 1995 as the industry began shifting its focus from raw news reporting to opinion-based views.
A pivotal shift in his career occurred while delivering AVIVA's "You're the Big Picture" brand campaign. This experience highlighted the immense potential for commercial and personal projects to leverage social engineering to uplift marginalized communities. Since 2010, Ram has dedicated much of his professional life to designing and implementing holistic social initiatives for underprivileged groups often overlooked by existing systems.
Alongside the late legendary scientist Prof. V.K. Damodaran and Dr. T.V. Raman (Distinguished Computer Scientist at Google), he co-founded Chakshumathi, an assistive technology center dedicated to students with print challenges—including those who are blind, deaf, neurodivergent, or living with upper-body mobility restrictions.
Chakshumathi launched the world's first Eyes Free Accessible Science Movement. Supported by IEEE Young Professionals and Vedantu Online Coaching, the movement utilizes specialized summer camps and tailored tutoring programs to foster scientific temper and provide essential educational and legal aids.
An active advisor for parents, governments, corporate entities, and World Bank projects, Ram is a steadfast advocate for legislation that ensures equitable, high-quality, and mainstream inclusive education for all differently abled children. Chakshumathi now focuses on Inclusive Education. He is widely recognized as the pioneer of Digitally Accessible Pedagogy and Individualized Educational Therapies (interventions by parents and teachers).
His current research focuses on practical interventions that empower parents to develop neuroplasticity in neurodivergent children (including those with Autism and ADHD) through targeted activities during their crucial first 1,000 days.
Presently, as the Chief Executive Officer of the Punyaa Heart Foundation, Ram is engineering a mass communication program and an LLM-driven initiative for the National Program for Prevention and Eradication of Heart Attack (NPPEHA). This ambitious project empowers individuals to prevent and reverse heart disease through highly accessible, pragmatic lifestyle and food habit modifications.
